Centennial Trail Adoption
The TCA, spearheaded by our President Craig Whiton, has adopted the Centennial Trail, in the Mahoosuc Range. This trail was opened on the AMC’s 100th Anniversary in 1976, and is a key link in the 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail in the southern Mahoosucs. The trail starts off the Hogan Road, on the way into the Shelburne Cabin. We are responsible for 3.1 miles to the junction of Trident Col/Mahoosuc Range Trail. It is a beautiful trail that climbs steadily, first through birch and beech and eventually more spruce, and has several ledges and viewpoints of the Androscoggin River. As 2.8 miles the trail reaches the easterly summit of Mt. Hayes and then descends slightly into the Col.
The Trail has not been partrolled in 2018. In 2014 all of the blazing was accomplished. In 2015 a water bar was replaced.
If you would like to participate in work parties, etc. or spearhead any efforts, please contact Craig Whiton.
